Day 179: 1st Birfday Card

Got my first Birfday card in the mail from my Mom. Always a good time of year. I specifically liked the line, "You're lucky you called me on my birthday because I am feeling really generous (Mai Tais!)". Thanks Mom.

Day 178: Light

I was feeling really lazy after a long day. Sorry.

Day 177: Captain's Wheel

There is something about this captain's wheel that is just awesome on so many levels. Its on the second story balcony at '01 and it just makes you feel free. Some days you could stand up here for hours steering the wheel without going anywhere but it makes you feel productive somehow.

Day 176: International Beers

At '01 again and thought it would be a huge disservice to humanity if their international beer collection was undocumented. Beers from all over the world have made their way to Isla Vista for this well respected assortment of brew.

A Lot of alcohol collections you see in Isla Vista are of glass handles or just a bunch of the same bottle over and over again. But at '01, every bottle is different. Never repeating a single bottle, this collection is about to run out of shelving but I have been assured that more shelves will be built.

The bottles are also assorted by what I like to call "families". Here's the Firestone Family.

The Green Family.

The Samuel Adams Family and a little piece of the Blue Moon Family.

Here is the whole family.

Day 175: Sunset at '01

I have been working on this project with EO and Sweeney for this Green Shorts Contest and have really been expanding on my DP reel. We wrapped shooting towards the end of magic hour and I got these awesome shots from their balcony.

I was trying to get all artsy with the black and white.

Day 174: Rob Gym

Rec Sports is trying to pass a referendum this spring to improve some fields near Harder and fix up Rob Gym. Rob Gym is in such bad shape that when it rains, they put trash cans and buckets out on the court to try and catch the water.

Eric, Sweeney, and I shot some stuff in the gym today. Here is one shot from it. The audio is pretty funny.

Day 174: Professional Tortilla Thrower

Our new Rec Sports video has become a hit. Ryan and I mad this video to stir up more traffic to Gauchosplay.com. We wanted to make a video about someone overly extreme as well as relatable to UCSB students. The Daily Nexus also wrote a story about it after it played in front of the Social Network on Monday night. At the time the article was written (Friday) they said it had over 2,000 hits. Today (Saturday) at the time of this post, there have been 3,850.

Front page!

Day 173: Dome House

I was on campus today, had my camera, and was feeling kind of nostalgic so I took a picture of Storke tower.

I also got to work for the first time ever as a Director of Photography! It was for this project that Emma and EO are working on and it was in the legendary Dome House. I've always wanted to go in it before and tonight was the night.

The upstairs has all these glow-in-the-dark stickers but my camera couldn't pick them up. But this shot was taken in complete darkness and the shutter speed was like 5 seconds long.

A pretty wet piece of glass too.

Day 172: First Draft

I finished the first draft of my new script and am really excited about it. It is a dark comedy about a scientist working on a mysterious formula. Elixir will definitely promote discussion which I think any good film should do.

Coming in May 2011.

Day 171: Highdea

A couple days ago I heard someone reminisce about an "Highdea" that they had. I thought the term was genius and had one today. Around our house, lighters are scarce because everyone is always taking them. So I used Brian's magnetic balls to make a lighter necklace for Debra. She likes it.

Day 170: Valentines Day

Day 169: Six Flags

Sarah took my to Six Flags on her date party and it was a fantastic day. I haven't been there for a long time and was excited to ride X again (or as its called now, X2). At the beginning of the day, Sarah was scared shitless of roller coasters but she sacked up like a champ and went on every, single, one. She even went on X which is the scariest roller coaster I have ever been on so to me, her roller coastaphobia has been cured.

We ate lunch at Moose Lodge. It was nice to find a place that sold beer.

Day 168: Jules Birthday

Jules turned 22 today and we celebrated by having lunch at the Hollister Brewing Company.
