Day 48: Brooklyn Learns to Surf

Today my friend Brandon came up for the weekend and he brought my surfboard for me. This is the first surfboard I have ever ridden/owned so it was nice to see it. A couple years ago I put a whole in the bottom of it and haven't used it in fear of making it worse. But I've decided I am going to ride it frequently because its better than not riding it at all.

Getting Brooklyn to pose on it was a fucking mission. She was horrified of it and I pretty much had to yell at her to sit on it. After a couple minutes she finally did it but she was real but hurt after so I gave her a good rub down.

Day 47: 3 Shot scene

The only real reason I am still interested in college are classes like Lighting 112: Lighting for the Moving Image. For this class we had to light a scene that had only a master, two shot, and close up. We decided to shoot a scene in which a man is strangled and had to light it appropriately. Funny thing about lighting is that it takes a bunch of lights to make a scene dark.

Some other students were assigned to shoot a proper interview lighting setup.

I ended up being the strangler and think I did a decent job. I've watched Dexter a couple times so I thought I was qualified.

I will definitely be taking my camera to this class form now on.

Day 46: The Apocalypse

Its been getting foggy in IV these past couple days. This happens mostly in the late afternoons. Today I went to see The Social Network and it was sunny when we got there but cloudy when we left.

This is an apartment complex on my street that has great palm tree placement. Originally I had planned to take a picture of it in the late afternoon with better lighting but I guess sometimes things just don't work out.

Day 45: 8=Dtation

A lot of people know about the Summer Height High dicktation sign in which you draw a dick and write "tation" after it. I ended up spray painting one on our beer pong table.

What is funny is that the other day while I was packing some stuff into the attic, I came across a former dicktation written by a former tenant. It was funny to see how both of us immediately thought of it as a tag sign and used it to mark our territory. 

There were some other tags from as far back as '02.

Wouldn't "fucked up in the hiv" mean a good thing? But then I realized the IV was capitalized and it all made sense.

Day 44: Real Meat Part II: Return of the Wet Meat: Harder, Wetter, Faster, Meatier

Real Meat is an intramural soccer team that made it all the way to the championship last year. Unfortunately we lost in a PK shootout in which the term "Geiger'd it" became a common soccer phrase amongst us. This year we are wetter than ever. I am making a documentary about the season and our journey to the top. The working title is "Hard Knocks: Real Meat". Tonight was our first game but the other team didn't show up. They were too scared of the wetness.

Day 43: Prize Winners and Dog Kidnappers

It is fun making movies and commercials with friends but it is even more fun when you win stuff for doing it. EO emailed me last night right as I was about to go out telling me we won the grand prize in the Pringles Xtreme commercial contest! So now we get to go to New York, NY to be on some show! Brooklyn also got kidnapped today. We received this picture of her after she had been missing for 20 minutes with a note that said, "$500 if you want the dog back alive." Just look at how scared Brooklyn is. Needles to say we found the criminals and killed them. Got your back Baby Girl.

Day 42: Caught on Campus

For my second Rec Sports commercial I wanted to make a tribute to early cinema. I decided to use one of the oldest tricks in the film industry created by George Mellies in which you stop the camera, change the subject, and start the camera again so it looks like the person magically changed. He did this over 100 years ago and was labeled a "cinemagician". There is also an old film filter on it and as usual I like making silent projects better than talkies so i put some good ol' ragtime piano music on it.
