Day 94: Din Din

Nothing exciting happened today. Chef Dom made a dank dinner though.

Day 93: Ass of Beef Palace

I was gonna take a shit ton of pictures and spend hours writing up a post on The Beef Palace Butcher Shop, but the professor (Calvin) wasn't in and some asshole employees (Jenny and Glenn) were working so I played it safe.

On this back porch, there have probably been over 100,000 cigarettes smoked. Almost 41 years of employee breaks really adds up after a while. Corey and I added to the mess today with 2 more. I really do miss working here.

And there are some Hawks that hang out here too. With today's strong wind, they were just chillin, lookin for scraps.

Day 92: Xmas Photos

Today Shane, Corey, and I took our second annual Christmas cards. They were such a hit last year that we did them again this year and plan on doing them for 70 more years. We found dirty fucking sweaters at Goodwill, got some bows, and drove down to Corona Del Mar where we had our photo shoot.

Gwenna took over 300 pictures of us  being absolute fucking idiots which is what we do best. The funny part was there were other families there doing the exact same thing. I even busted my Santa costume out for some of the ocean shots, Threw that shit away real quick when it was over.

This picture is pretty much sums up what we were trying to do: cliche family xmas photo with some extra cheesy and a strong side of gay.

Day 91: The Forbidden Turkey

Being on the Amtrak all day, I was bummed I wasn't able to partake in the face stuffing Holiday. My family went somewhere else earlier in the day so there weren't any leftovers of stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, turkey, cornbread, or pumpkin pie. I ended up getting an "Individual Meal" (so depressing) from Boston Market. When I got home there was a turkey in the crockpot today, but it wouldn't be ready for our Fakesgiving tomorrow. Pissed.

Day 90: Thanksgiving Amtrak

I was gonna have Thanksgiving with the pops but he was feeling sick so my Mom convinced me to hop on the Amtrak and head down to HB. The journey from SB to HB is waaay better than going north.

One of the rare times Los Angeles looks nice.

Some socks were sleepy.

I arrived in Santa Ana at around 6pm and my Mom said she would be waiting. After a ten minute phone call of her trying to explain where she was at the station, I realized she was at the Anaheim station instead. Thanks Mom.

Day 89: Green Screen

In our lighting class, it was our group's turn to utilize the green screen. Since this type of special effect is used in almost every motion picture nowadays, it was cool to actually shoot on it. We used Dana's motorcycle to shoot a night scene in which the motorcycle drives on a street lit by street lights.

We used the DIT (Digital Image Technician) to match up what we were shooting with the headplate we had already shot.

So many lights in such a dark room.

Day 88: Gio Becomes a Man

On this very day, Giovanni Scalzo became 21 years of age. Brian, Gio, and I went to some pizza place that had orjanic beer and pizza. We popped Gio's ID cherry and bought a pitcher of Bud Light, Hemp Ale, and Guinness. We drank all of them and were pretty fucking hammed by the time we left. In 4 more years this man will be able to rent a car and take minors into a Dave and Busters.

Day 87: Fellow Photographer

Some guy came to the Frat house to take composite pictures and I thought to myself that the photographer rarely gets his picture taken so I though I should oblige him. He wasn't down to pose though.

Day 86: The Cracking of the Meat Wagon

I lost all of my keys (apartment, car, etc) on Halloween on the beach and haven't been able to drive forever. The spare key that I have was inside my car because I am a dumbass. Today I was over it and decided I wouldn't go back into the house until I got into my car with this coat hanger. ON THE FIRST TRY I got in...

Then I just pulled... and whala!

FREEDOM!

Day 85: Fung Shui

'95 rearranged our living room layout to maximize the seating as well as trap as much chi as possible in our house. Now it is wetter than ever.

Day 84: Heading South

After realizing that we came up to Granite Bay for the wrong date to shoot the commercial, I wanted to go home. EO and his lovely mother dropped me off at the Amtrak in Sacramento at 4:45am. There were a bunch of homeless people taking advantage of the heated benches but the coolest thing was the mural of the transcontinental railroad that was painted in the station. I hid my camera to avoid attracting homeless people.

After a 3 hour train ride, I ended up in San Jose where I got on a bus to San Louis Obispo. There was another mural painted here but it wasn't as cool.

Their American flag on the other hand was legit as fuck.

Day 83: EO's House

I was pretty bored this morning and EO slept in for quite a while so I took some pictures of his architecturally beautiful house. It has huge open spaces as well as corridors to the rooms that are upstairs and downstairs in this 3+ story home.

The main living room/kitchen is lit entirely by natural lighting through the skylights which looks awesome in the morning or late in the afternoon.

Here's Oscar wanting to go outside. He scratched my back real bad while he was trying to hump my leg but I won't hold it against him.

Complete with a pool and trampoline, the backyard is nothing like any estate in the city.

Day 82: Up the Coast

Drove up the coast today to shoot a commercial with EO and Airica for The Beach Hut Deli in Granite Bay.

Theres Airica in the bug...

The Beach Hut Deli has been around since 1981 and now has 19 locations. It is a great local establishment and makes legendary sandwiches.

The Deli just opened up a new room that is very Hawaiian authentic.

The owner, Troy, has been a huge fan of the Silver Surfer and any customers can see this right away as they walk in.

Its obvious that this place is always being decorated with new bottles, stickers, and paintings that keep up the old school feel.

A logo often makes or breaks a business and Beach Hut's logo is legit. Laid back display with a professional feel.

EO chillin' like a villain.

Day 81: Clouded Horizon

My weekend starts today even though I have to turn in an important 7 pager on Friday and a 10 pager on Tuesday. I am excited to go up to Northern California (If it wasn't Granite Bay I wouldn't be excited) to film a commercial with Erik and Airica for The Beach Hut, a deli that now has 23 locations including one in Reno, Nevada. Hopefully this first professional commercial job will lead to many more.

Day 80: Wet Paint Wet Paint Wet Paint Wet Paint Wet Paint

We moved in on July 1st and our stairs were painted white. The day before we moved in we drove by the apartment and there were no stairs at all so we assumed they quickly painted the stairs white to meet a deadline. White was a fucking genius idea considering its what we walk on EVERY DAY! Realizing their mistake, they came by today to paint our stairs. This time it was a much better color... white.
